There is an angel, which for a long time Poppy, Weatherby, and I thought was definately a phoney. His name is Remiel. He has wings and a halo, but we were pretty positive that his wings were fake wings and tied on with twine and that his halo was a fake halo and held up with wire. So we investigated him, and Poppy showed me how to take pictures with her camera as proof. The plan was to get excellent pictures as evidences and take them to the police and to a priest to expose Remiel as being a phoney. But the photos didn't come out very good at all.
Yesterday I saw Remiel and his friend, who is named Myshella were sitting and I think having a picnic. I had a potion that makes you very very hard to see, so i snuck up behind Remiel to get a very good look at his wings, just to make sure that they were fake wings. Just then my potion stopped working and both of them could see me very easily, and there wasnt anywhere to hide.
Remiel the fake angel's friend seemed sort of cross that I was being a snoop, and I couldn't think of a clever story to tell them why I was there... So I just said that I was investigating whether Remiel was a fake angel. Then the craziest thing happened.
Remiel didn't seem cross at all. He smiled, reached out like he was going to hug me, and took off into the air, holding me. He did proper loops and dips and swoops and everything. Well, I think he did loops, dips, and swoops. I couldn't open my eyes for most of it because it was very scary. Not scary. Startling. Very startling.
So anyway, Remiel the not-fake angel eventually put me down without dropping me. So this is proof that Poppy and Weatherby and I were wrong, and that Remiel is not a phoney. Its too bad, because it was a large investigation and there was probably other crimes and mysteries that we missed because of it.

Semile-ity
I was with Weatherby and Poppy yesterday. We were doing secret detective stuff. I forgot what a word meant, and Weatherby said I forgot because I was probably going 'semile'. She explained that going semile is when you forget things and eventually forget everything. Poppy said its mainly a disease for old people, but that occasionally younger people get it too.
Appearently there is only one cure for semile-ity, which is to swallow (not eat) a ginger pill once every four hours until you are cured. The problem is that if I am semile or whatever, I wont be able to remember to take those pills at exactly four hours, so I won't get cured. Poppy and Weatherby said they'd like to help, but that they will be busy in school. So I should just take a pill when I think of it and hope that I don't become completely semile before they have semester break and can be around to help.
I don't actually believe them that I'm being semile. But I am going to take these ginger pills as often as I can, just in case.

Latest Lesson
I had another lesson with Mister Ranmaru. Or Ranmaru-dono, I guess I should say. I think it means the same, but Mister Ranmaru seems to like the 'dono' more... I still forget and say Mister sometimes though. This latest lesson was the hardest one so far, but he seemed very pleased with how I performed.
Before, when people asked what it was Ranmaru-dono was teaching me, I said the 'Beautiful Way'. Thats what he said he taught his last student. But Ranmaru-dono told me that the Beautiful Way is really only for boy students... I don't understand why, and it doesn't seem fair. But he's still going to teach me how to fight.
Todays lesson: There is a pale man who lives in a castle. He's evil. Ranmaru-dono took me to the entrance of the throneroom and whispered to me that the man was in the next room, but that he also had several guards there to protect him. The man had stationed more guards outside, where we were standing, too. Still whispering, Ranmaru-dono asked what we should do, since we were out numbered. Of course we had to be sneaky and surprise the pale man in another way. So we snuck around into the kitchen, where we could see the pale man through the doorway, and where there was only one guard. After the guard was gone, Ranmaru-dono whispered to me that the pale man had powerful weapons, and asked me what I should do in that situation. I whispered back that we should take away his powerful weapons so that he didn't have an advantage. Ranmaru-dono nodded and smiled.
So thats what I did. I shot the pale man in the hand, which made him drop his sword. The pale man was so angry, he ran at me without calling for his guards. He didn't have his weapon... but I still had mine. And I was very sneaky and very quick like Ranmaru-dono has shown me before. Ranmaru-dono didn't even have to help much, and we soon took care of the pale man.
Afterwards, when we were safely out of the castle, Ranmaru-dono smiled and said that I had done very well. He also said I was a fast learner. I wonder how many lessons are left? Probably still a bunch: Ranmaru-dono is much sneakier and quicker and stronger than I am.

I found a new job.
I found a new job today. I havent worked for the merchant near Mister Ranmaru's house in a long while. The merchant tried to grab me when he was drunk. I stomped on his foot and ran. I dont need much money, just enough for some food.
But now I have a new job. Possibly the best job I've had so far. It's just sweeping the floors and cleaning, which is the only kind of job people ever let me do... but this one is at my favorite shop. My favorite shop is owned by Miss Orchid the fortune teller. It's a small shop, but it's almost always full of people.
I don't really understand fortune telling, and I'd never tell Miss Orchid, but I have a suspicion it might be sort of fake. But her customers always seem pleased by what she tells them, so maybe it's not about telling fortunes and magic and stuff as much as it is just talking to people and making them feel better. Miss Orchid is very good at that.
I had been spending a lot of time there... Mister Ranmaru showed me the place originally. Dreva lives at the shop with Miss Orchid. Dreva is one of the nicest people I've ever met... even if she does call me Ayda-brat frequently. It doesn't bother me when it's Dreva saying it. She is a druid and makes lots of weird smelling potions. Miss Orchid tells her to do it outside, but she doesnt always listen... so 'keeping the place aired out' is also my responsibility.
They said I could start on a 'trail basis' for one month. They said I could take meals with them there, too. They even said that if I learned more about cooking, I might be able to move up to being the cook. I don't mind just cleaning the floors if it's for someone who is nice. This will probably be the best job ever... I start tomorrow!

Those other girls.
I've met some other girls who are about my age. They are a couple years older, but they try to act even older than that. Their names are Poppy and Weatherby. They have fancy uniforms and are always talking about archery class or their headmistress or how to act proper. They also love to talk about going on 'grand adventures.' I'm really not sure that I believe they've gone on the adventures they say they have.
When I first met them, they asked me why I wasn't wearing my uniform and which school I went to. When I told them I didn't go to school, they both smiled and said that was fine, but I could tell they didn't think it was alright. I pretty sure they look down on me.
They did, however, show me their secret clubhouse. It's an abandoned church, I think. It really is a pretty neat place. There's a secret knock and a secret password. And only a few people know them: and I'm now one of those people. Sometimes Theobald stops by while shopping. He's a fat man that sweats and laughs a lot. I like him. I'm not sure how he found out about the secret clubhouse, maybe Poppy and Weatherby told him. But he occasionally stops and sometimes brings sweets with him. (He is almost always carrying some sort of food) I don't spend much time there, though... they are both in class most of the time so it'd just be me.
They are nice enough girls. They are always bickering with eachother and it's pretty funny. They've both suggested that I come see what their school is like, and that I could maybe get a fancy uniform and go to class there. That doesn't sound like much fun though. I think people that act proper are mainly being fake. And who wants to learn about bows and arrows when you can shoot a gun?

The man that knocked me down
-The man that knocked me down, his name is Ranmaru. He's an odd man. He has weird clothes. He has girls hair. He's always bowing and kneeling and blushing. Like a girl or something. He's handsome, though. Very handsome. And he seems nice. He didn't call me shorty, kiddo, child, or brat. As soon as he knew my name, he called me by it.
After he knocked me down and ran off, I followed him. He went into the school, so I waited outside. When he came out later, I decided to follow him: nothing nice about this place, so I might as well. I followed him to a large house and he went inside. His house? It was big. Maybe he was there for business or to see a friend or something. When it eventually got dark, I realized it must have been his home. I hung around for a long time: weeks. I worked cleaning stalls in the market for food, but always tried to stay within site of his house. I saw him come and go every day. Sometimes I followed, sometimes I was too busy.
He carried a gun, like mine! I even saw him use his gun a couple times. He's amazing. Better than me. Even better than dad was.
I meant to sneak in. I thought he was gone. I had seen him leave, but he must have come back when I was working. As I tried to unlock the gate, he called out from inside... wanting to know who it was. I don't know why I didn't run, but I didn't. Instead I knocked, like I was hoping he was there. He opened the gate and smiled as if he remembered me. Thats probably not possible though, hardly anyone remembers me.
He gave me a tour and talked to me like I was an adult. It was great. Eventually, we talked about guns. He knows a lot about guns. He asked me where I got mine, and about who I was. I didn't mind talking about it for some reason. And then... he said it. He offered to teach me! He said it's more than pulling the trigger, it's how you act and other stuff. I don't know what he meant, exactly, but I guess I'll figure that out later. Mainly I'm interested in guns.
